We live in a fast-paced world where people often forget to stop and smell the roses. But during a Beauty and Wellness event at The Farm in San Benito, Batangas, everyone was forced to slow down and breathe in their surroundings. I realized this was actually a blessing in disguise because how many of us realize when it’s time to stop?
The Farm is a hidden gem tucked away in Batangas. It has a nine-hectare wellness area inside a 49-hectare coconut plantation. The sanctuary is like a scene out of Jurassic Park minus the dinosaurs, set against a backdrop of grandiose mountains and ever green forests. To make it even more heavenly, there is a resident albino peacock named Nirvana, as white as snow and as divine as a dove, gracefully protecting the premises with a long, gown-like train behind it. If Nirvana lacked anything, it would be a golden crown to top it all off.
New place for beauty
When we finally arrived after a two-hour ride from Makati, we were welcomed with fresh coconut water still inside the shell and cold towels to wipe our brow. The crisp, fresh air was a start to de-stress from the troubles of modern life.
We were soon introduced to The Farm’s general manager Preet Singh who warmly welcomed us for the launch of its newest Aesthetic Center, the reason for the celebration.
Aesthetic enhancements with a holistic touch are offered in the new beauty destination, headed by plastic surgeon Dr. Conrada Veruasa-Apostol, Dr. Radi for short.
Dr. Radi offers patients procedures that are less painful, less expensive and with less risk, always considering surgical enhancement as the last option. She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, Asian Pacific Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and a fellow of International College of Surgeons.
After the short introductions, we were all given a tour of this paradise. With its current 33 spacious and exclusive suites and villas, gym, lounge, amphitheater and meeting hall, The Farm is a retreat haven to unwind and rejuvenate oneself.
The Farm also offers a variety of world-class, medically supervised health optimization programs, including holistic wellness, detox cleanse, weight management, diabetes prevention and heart health; executive health programs from pain management and mental health; and cellular health programs. The Farm has partnered with top-notch European Wellness and CIGNA Healthcare through Living Life Well Medical Group.
Since The Farm aims for guests to return to their ideal, balanced state and achieve holistic optimum wellness, the farm-to-table lunch buffet served at Alive! Restaurant was vegan.
The menu is dependent on the season’s harvest, hand-picked from their own organic gardens. Prepared was pomelo salad wrapped in fried wanton wrapper, onion walnut flatbread pizza, carrot gnocchi, chili rellenos and fresh salad roll.
Lunch for me was a treat, because I was on a Daniel’s Fast, a 21-day fast with the restrictions to eat only fruits, vegetables and nuts.
Following the meal was the ribbon-cutting ceremony led by GM Singh along with Dr. Radi, entrepreneur Rosemarie “Ross” Licup, Embassy of Poland Chargé d’affaires Joanna Wasiewska, Embassy of Hungary Deputy Chief of Mission David Ambrus and society columnist Johnny Litton.
Testing the treatments
We were all given the chance to try some of the beauty and wellness treatments at The Farm, including their signature wellness consultation, the Live Blood Analysis.
We were able to see the state of our red blood cells through a TV screen after a drop of our blood was studied by Dr. Marian Alonzo, M.D., the integrative doctor.
As part of the new Aesthetics Program, Licup offers services for beauty and skin care needs inside The Farm called Exuviance by Ross. It carries a line that is claimed to come from the latest technology and state of the art treatments in skin rejuvenation, acne management, wrinkle reduction, scalp treatment and hair restoration, facial and body contouring, non-invasive beauty enhancements and dental aesthetics.
We tried the keratin hair treatment, the non-invasive liposuction (lipo) and radio frequency (RF).
The lipo and RF had me lying down on a massage bed while assistant Lowena Alo conducted the treatment. Alo told me it took her weeks of practice and training to be able to stand before me because the machines being used were all electrical. It took an understanding of the machine, skill and talent to operate it.
She also told me that this lipo treatment is effective in reducing unwanted fat in the body and tighten and firm up the skin for a more youthful appearance when the treatment is done regularly or at least four times.
For 30 minutes, Alo massaged my stomach (my chosen body area), using an electrical device that sucked the skin. According to Alo, this loosens fat which will then be excreted through the urine.
As for the 30-minute RF treatment, my stomach was massaged using a device that gently tightened my skin.
The quick escape to The Farm was a holistic reboot for the mind, body and soul.
