GMA bailiwick wants best bets

Former President and incumbent Speaker Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Tuesday revealed she was only giving competent and qualified candidates access to voters in her turf.

In a statement, Arroyo said Kapampangans are intelligent voters and do not blindly follow endorsements by political leaders even as she urged her province mates to vote wisely.

She was reacting to her recent moves to invite and allow certain candidates to campaign in Pampanga, which is considered as her political bailiwick.

“I am here to give the most competent and most qualified candidates exposure to present their plans and platform of governance to enable Kapampangans to vote wisely,” Arroyo said.
“Not because you said ‘vote for this person’ means that they will vote for that candidate. So, endorsement is not an issue,” she added.

Arroyo recently hosted several senatorial candidates in her hometown in Lubao, Pampanga, including former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile and lawyer Glenn Chong, as well as Family First party-list nominee Anne Andanar.

She also brought them to meet with retired Pampanga Archbishop Paciano Aniceto in neighboring Betis town.

Meanwhile, the Department of Interior and Local Government yesterday slammed the ACT partylist anew over its decision to file a motion for reconsideration on a profiling complaint that was already dismissed by the court.
