National Waterworks and Sewerage System (Nawasa) concessionaire Manila Water yesterday advised the public to start saving water, as it sets to implement supply contingency plan to caution possible effects of the El Niño weather phenomenon.
The weather system is expected to affect several areas in the country, including Metro Manila, from March until June this year which could result in prolonged dry spell.
The firm advised affected residents of Metro Manila and Rizal to save water as the faucets will have lesser pressure to no water at all, especially during peak hours starting 6 a.m. today.
This, as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration yesterday warned that the number of provinces grappling with drought will double to 10 from five this March.
