Soldiers unearth terrorists cave hideout

Apparently running out of space to operate and hide from government forces who were pursuing them relentlessly, some members of the terrorist group New People’s Army in Agusan del Norte became a bit more creative by using a cave as their hideout and dispensary.

It did not take long, however, for the government troops from the 23rd Infantry Division to discover the Reds hiding place after residents of Buenavista town on Wednesday morning pointed to their location.

And just like mice being chased by cats, the terrorists were forced to abandon their hideout in Sitio Bulak, Barangay Lower Olave after sensing the approaching soldiers.

The 40×30-meter cave can accommodate at least 15 persons from where two Garand rifles, 90 pieces of medicine vials and subversive documents were recovered.

The troops believed the rebels used their hideout as a makeshift hospital to perform operations on their wounded members based on the medicine vials found.

Lt. Col. Francisco Molina Jr., commanding officer of 23rd IB praised the residents for helping them locate the hideout of the enemies.
