The province of Palawan recently capped the month-long celebration of National Arts Month by showcasing the traditional and cultural dances through performances by select local dance troupes.
With the theme “Carillon: Music and Dance Stage,” the night was truly a gathering of the province’s crème de la crème of local dance enthusiasts and artists.
Among the performers were Palawan Dance Ensemble, Puerto Princesa City Banwa Dance and Arts, Palawan State University Dance Troupe, San Pedro Central School and Taytay Heritage Culture and Arts Program.
Hundreds joined to watch the culminating program held in the al fresco garden fronting the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum last 28 February.
The event was organized by the provincial government in collaboration with the Puerto Princesa City Hall and the Philippine Folk Dance Society — Palawan Chapter.
The spectators came to witness a world-class parade of local talents whose performances reflected the colorful folklore and rich traditions of the countryside.
The month-long colorful celebration also featured Palaweño music and art exhibits through Pinta Kultura and was aimed at uniting all local artists of the province.
The festival was also designed to showcase in visual art the unique and rich culture of Palawan and the Philippine countryside.
