Magnitude 5.5 quake jolts Surigao

A magnitude-5.5 earthquake struck Surigao del Norte Sunday morning.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), it struck 42 kilometers northeast of Surigao del Norte’s General Luna.
It was recorded at 6:21 a.m. and was tectonic in origin with 44-kilometer depth of focus.
The tremor was measured at intensity 1 in Cebu City and Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental.
No damage was expected from the quake while aftershocks were unlikely.
The quake was an aftershock of the magnitude 5.9 quake that struck Saturday evening.
