The initiative is brought about by the President’s concern for the working pres.

Andanar will then distribute the financial assistance to 10 journalists who are battling various serious illnesses, most of whom are regional media practitioners like Ernie Gabonada, a news anchor from General Santos City and Baguio columnist Mon Dacawi who have been undergoing continuous kidney dialysis.

Other recipients include: Bong Montalban, a radio disc jockey in Cagayan de Oro suffering from aneurism; Bohol DJ Edward Guyano; Bukidnon news reporter Ma. Meodina Molejon; Kalibo radio station manager John Chester Redecio; SunStar Cebu photographer Alex Badayos; Inquirer correspondent Mario Arguelles and Nueva Ecija columnist Elmo Roque.

Manila-based radio broadcaster Ed Versola who was recently, diagnosed with throat cancer, meanwhile, will also receive a similar but still undetermined amount of financial assistance from Go.

According to Go, the initiative is brought about by the President’s concern for the working press.
