What better place to celebrate your Christmas party, corporate event and any special occasion than on top of the city at a premium-helipad-turned-event-venue that offers an undisputed 360-degree view of the Ortigas skyline?

Discovery Suites in Ortigas Center, Pasig City is taking celebrations to greater heights as it officially opens Hangar 43, a unique events venue located at the hotel’s helipad on the 43rd floor.

“Our helipad hasn’t been operational because of the new buildings around. Since we have this asset that wasn’t being used, we thought why not (use it)? It’s something interesting for our clients. The view is something that you don’t really get anywhere else — the sunset and lovely twilight, and that’s why we really started,” said Angela Padilla, Discovery Suites’ director of Marketing Communications.

After the success of its Valentine’s Helipad and Helipad Wine-pairing BBQ dinners earlier this year, Discovery Suites is bringing a whole new, one-of-a-kind experience to guests.

“We started Valentine’s Day. We initially opened it for one night, and because of its popularity, we opened it for a second night. We didn’t really do anything after that until we started getting inquiries for special events. Now it’s available for everyone who wants to do intimate Christmas parties,” said Padilla.

Starting 26 November, Hangar 43 will accommodate private and corporate gatherings of up to 35 people and let guests enjoy the stunning view from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Children and young adults 15 years and below are not allowed at the helipad for safety reasons. In case it rains, one of the function rooms downstairs will serve as a backup venue.

This holiday season, Discovery Suites offers three premium Christmas party packages for customers to choose from — Barbecue, Holiday and Asian. The packages for 30 guests start at P90,000 which includes dinner buffet, drinks and sound system.

THE holiday menu includes Christmas brownies, cookies, ginger bread and fruit platter for dessert.

Barbecue menu includes crispy pork belly roulade with liver sauce, seafood risotto, jambalaya soup, assorted greens with condiments and dressings, potato and bacon salad, roasted potato wedges, grilled mixed vegetables and cheesy mashed potato. From the grill, diners will enjoy the Cajun chicken with mango salsa, mixed seafood with lemon butter sauce, marinated pork belly with chili lime sauce, and beef medallions with red wine jus. Dessert includes fruit platter, matcha green tea cheesecake, white chocolate mousse and hot choco.

Holiday menu has rack of pork, pasta station, cinnamon pumpkin soup, Waldorf salad, tomato mozzarella caprese and smoked salmon with dill sauce. The mains include saffron rice, roasted root vegetables, sweet potato gratin, slow roasted beef with mushroom sauce, pan seared salmon with lemon butter sauce, and smoked ham with pineapple sauce. Cap the meal with tocino del cielo, Christmas brownies, cookies and ginger bread as well as fruit platter for dessert.

The Asian Menu offers Peking duck pancake, beef teppanyaki, vegetable and shrimp tempura, chicken yakitori, seafood laksa, Thai beef salad, California maki, and assorted sashimi. For the mains, feast on Hainanese chicken rice, tofu and broccoli with garlic sauce and steamed lapu-lapu fish with soy ginger. End the meal with fruit platter, tapioca crème brulee, steamed custard bun and chocolate brazo de mercedes.

22 Prime, Discovery Suites’ flagship restaurant on the 22nd floor, will be hosting pop-up holiday dinners at Hangar 43 on four Saturdays of December starting December 1. Savor the lavish 4-course dinner with colleagues, family and friends while enjoying the holiday breeze with the city lights as backdrop.

“We’re launching Hangar 43 this Christmas, although we are looking towards having this venue available the whole year,” said Padilla.
