Filipino athletes have received and will continue to get full support from the Duterte administration, former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go assured on 24 November. He said that the construction of a sports facility in New Clark City is one of the government’s steps to uplift the sports scene in in the country.
The sports facility, which will be a part of National Multi-Sports Training Park, passed the sports regulating standard and is seen fit as a training ground for international competitions. It is within the National Government Administrative Center that will host the contingency administrative offices of all branches of the government in case of national calamities.
New Clark City is a government-owned planned community in Capas, Tarlac. It will be the venue of the upcoming 30th Southeast Asian Games in 2019. The said facility will include a 20,000-seat athletics stadium, a 2,000-seating-capacity aquatics center and a 2,100-bed Athletes’ Village.
The last government project focusing on sports in the country was initiated in 1994.
