College of Saint Benilde guns for solo third when it battles Mapua University while University of Perpetual Help tries to inch closer as it tackles Arellano University in the 94th National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball tournament today at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Game time is at 2 p.m. with the Blazers looking to claim their eighth victory in 12 matches to seal the solo third in the country’s oldest collegiate league.

Gutang finally found his touch and unloaded a career-high 25 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter.

The Altas, meanwhile, seek to inch closer when they clash with the Chiefs in the 4 p.m. main game.

Actually, the Blazers had a chance to seal the solo third, but Justin Gutang’s basket at endgame was nullified, resulting to a 65-66 setback to San Sebastian College.

Team captain Yankie Haruna signed the score sheet to signify their protest, but the Blazers didn’t follow it up.

With that, Saint Benilde are now locked in the third spot with Letran College behind leaders Lyceum of the Philippines University and San Beda University.

Still, the Blazers had something positive out of that loss.

Gutang finally found his touch and unloaded a career-high 25 points, including 16 in the fourth quarter.

It could have been 27 markers his shot made it in time.

The Altas, meanwhile, try to arrest their three-game slide as they face off with the Chiefs, who prevailed over them, 76-72, in their first round encounter.

Perpetual is currently at No. 5 with a 5-5 card while Arellano is closely behind with a 4-6 mark.
