San Beda tests NU’s mettle

Eight teams are out to foil National University’s back-to-back title drive when the Premier Volleyball League Season 2 Collegiate Conference fires off today at the Filoil Flying V Center in San Juan.

San Beda College gets the first crack as it tangles with the Lady Bulldogs in the 4 pm main game following the 2 pm clash between the Adamson University and the University of Perpetual Help Dalta System.

With the core of the team that placed sixth in the recent PVL Reinforced Conference intact, NU looms as the team to beat, although the eight others have also primed up for the event which also serves as part of the schools’ buildup for their respective upcoming leagues.

Though the Lady Bulldogs will be without last year’s top players Jaja Santiago and Aiko Urdas, they remain a strong force built around incoming rookie setter Joyme Cagande, Ivy Lacsina, libero Jennifer Nierva, Princess Robles and high school star Faith Nisperos.

Other teams vying in the mid-season conference are Far Eastern University, College of Saint Benilde, University of Santo Tomas, San Sebastian College and University of the Philippines.
