A chairwoman and sister of slain drug lord was gunned down in an ambush in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, last Sunday, police yesterday said.

Senior Insp. Asencion Ortizo, chief of the San Joaquin Municipal Police Office, said Remia Gregori, village chief of Bakhaw, Mandurriao, Iloilo City, was shot dead at around 4 p.m. at a beach resort in San Joaquin town in Iloilo.

Initial reports showed the victim was shot several times.
Gregori is the sister of alleged drug lord Richard Prevendido, who was also shot dead in 2017.

Prevendido was neutralized in police operations in Balabago, Jaro District in Iloilo City. He died from at least three gunshot wounds after he allegedly opened fire at police officers, who were serving a warrant for his arrest for a drug case.

According to the police, Prevendido’s group had as many as 15 core members, who supervised the drug distributors in Visayas.

He became the region’s top drug lord after the killing of Melvin Odicta, another alleged big-time drug dealer.

Odicta’s brother, Noel Odicta, was also arrested in Barangay Tanza Esperanza in Iloilo City yesterday.

Iloilo police collared Odicta, an outgoing village chief and incoming barangay councilor, and four others for illegal possession of firearms.
