Comedian Wacky Kiray became emotional as he remembered the strength, optimism, and deep faith of his late friend and fellow comedian Ate Gay, who remained determined to fight cancer despite the challenges brought by his illness.

During his appearance on GMA Network’s Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Friday, November 6, Wacky shared how he encouraged Ate Gay to maintain a positive outlook after learning about his cancer diagnosis.

According to Wacky, he understood how difficult the experience was for his friend, but he wanted Ate Gay to believe that he could overcome the disease.

Wacky explained that he constantly reminded Ate Gay about the importance of having a strong mindset while facing life's most difficult challenges.

“Tinatatawag na mind over matter. Lahat tayo, kapag pinaandar mo ’yung utak mo, pinaandar mo ’yung pananalig mo, malalampasan mo ’yan,” he said.

Beyond his determination to survive, Ate Gay also found strength in his spiritual devotion.

Wacky recalled how his friend would spend time praying before stepping onto the stage, showing that his faith remained an important part of his life even while battling cancer.

Witnessing those moments deeply touched Wacky, who admitted that he would also quietly pray for Ate Gay while preparing backstage.

The comedian's recollection offered a glimpse of Ate Gay beyond the laughter and entertainment he brought to audiences throughout his career.

For Wacky, his late friend's journey was not simply about confronting a serious illness but also about holding on to hope, drawing strength from prayer, and refusing to surrender easily.

As the entertainment industry continues to mourn Ate Gay's passing, Wacky's heartfelt memories serve as a touching reminder of the comedian's resilience, kindness, and enduring faith.

Behind the humor that made countless people laugh was a man who faced one of life's toughest battles with courage and an unwavering belief in God.
