Fire hits Makati Central Square mall
No injuries or fatalities were reported, the BFP said on Saturday.
A fire struck Makati Central Square in Barangay Pio del Pilar, Makati City, at around 6:08 p.m., Friday, prompting shoppers to rush out of the mall.
The Makati City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) immediately raised the first alarm after the fire broke out inside the mall, where several stalls and shops were located.
No injuries or fatalities were reported, the BFP said on Saturday. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the damage.
The mall hosts two shooting ranges and restaurants, as well as boutique stores and thrift shops. It used to be called Makati Cinema Square.
Meanwhile, another fire broke out in Barangay 183, Villamor, Pasay City, at around 8:10 p.m.
The blaze engulfed a house made of light materials, which was quickly gutted by the flames.
Firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to neighboring houses, aided by the wide road that allowed them to maneuver around the area.
The fire reached first alarm and was declared out after just 15 minutes.
No injuries were reported. Authorities were still assessing the damage at press time.
