Police examine burned bone fragments discovered during missing person investigation
AMADEO, Cavite — Police recovered suspected human skeletal remains near a dried-up creek in Barangay Halang, Amadeo, Cavite, on Thursday, 5 November, during a follow-up investigation into a missing person case.
According to the Police Regional Office CALABARZON, the discovery was made around 3:15 p.m. in Purok 7, where investigators found scattered bone fragments beneath a santol tree.
Authorities also discovered traces of burning and what appeared to be a makeshift burning site near the area where the remains were found.
Personnel from the Amadeo Municipal Police Station and General Trias City Police Station conducted the search in coordination with a Special Investigation Task Group led by Police Lieutenant Colonel Archimedes Lara Baking.
Scene of the Crime Operatives subsequently processed the area, documented the evidence, and recovered the skeletal fragments for forensic examination.
Police said the examination would determine whether the recovered fragments were human remains and whether they belonged to the missing individual under investigation.
The identity of the possible victim and the circumstances surrounding the discovery have yet to be established.
Authorities said further investigation is ongoing.
