Marcial flying to U.S. soon
Eumir Marcial should be on his way back to the United States anytime this month as he prepares for a big bout coming his way in early 2027.
“He’s definitely heading back to the States because I have lined him up for a big fight early next year,” said American dealmaker Sean Gibbons, who signed up the heavy-handed Filipino middleweight to a contract six years ago.
The southpaw Marcial is coming off a vicious one-punch third-round knockout of Omar Ulises Huerta in Temecula, California, last September.
Under Gibbons’ plan, a mouth-watering showdown with Carlos Ocampo is on the horizon.
Ocampo is the hard-hitting Mexican who knocked out Marcial’s Zamboanga provincemate and buddy Weljon Mindoro last August in Los Angeles.
The loss cost the previously-undefeated Mindoro a stint last September in the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya.
Marcial, who recently turned 30, holds an unbeaten mark of 8-0-0 with five knockouts.
