Badoc centenarian receives cash gift

Mayor Virgilio Calajate personally visited Anastacia Torda of Barangay Lubigan to present her with a centenarian cash gift from the Local Government Unit of Badoc, Ilocos Norte in recognition of her 100th birthday.

Torda’s family, barangay officials and representatives of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office witnessed the home visit. The MSWDO representatives were Senior Citizens Focal Person Nova Jane P. Caligan and Social Welfare Officer I Sofia P. Rosauro.

The recognition is pursuant to Republic Act No. 10868, or the Centenarians Act of 2016, which honors Filipinos who reach 100 years of age for their contributions to their families, communities and the country.

Calajate said the gesture recognizes the wisdom, strength and life experiences of senior citizens. He added that the municipal government remains committed to promoting the welfare and dignity of older residents and bringing services closer to them.

The municipality congratulated Torda, also known as Nana Aning, on reaching the milestone and wished her continued health and happiness.
