PNP probes 2 drug busts’ connection
The police are investigating the possible links between international drug operations in the country following the seizure of P1.36 billion worth of suspected shabu at a Manila port and the P3.5 billion worth of illegal narcotics intercepted in Laos last month.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos, Jr. and Department of The Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla sought to intensify intelligence-driven supply reduction, strengthen border security, and dismantle international drug networks.
“Our priority is to identify those behind these operations, disrupt their supply routes, and ensure that the Philippines will never provide a safe passage for international drug syndicates,” Philippine National Police (PNP) chief P/Gen.Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has said.
Around 200 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride were intercepted from a 40-foot shipping container by operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Customs and PNP, it was reported on 4 November.
