La Union governor brings Luzon development priorities to national forum
La Union Governor Mario C. Ortega brought priority development concerns of Luzon to the national level during the inaugural Economy and Development (ED) Council–Regional Development Committee (RDCom) meeting on 4 November 2026.
Ortega, who chairs the Regional Development Committee–Luzon Area Committee (RDCom-LAC), attended the meeting alongside Department of Economy, Planning, and Development Regional Office 1 Director Stephanie F. Christiansen.
The meeting also featured the presentation of the reconstituted RDCom membership and provided a platform for regional representatives to raise development concerns, address disparities among regions and strengthen coordination between regional and national government bodies.
As chairperson of the Luzon Area Committee, Ortega represented the region in discussions aimed at bringing regional development priorities into national policymaking and investment planning.
The engagement focused on aligning regional development plans with national policies and investments to strengthen cooperation among regions and ensure that government interventions respond to their respective development needs.
The initiative seeks to promote balanced, inclusive and sustainable development across Luzon through stronger coordination between regional development committees and national economic planning bodies.
