NBI nabs ‘abusive’ mom
National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) operatives arrested a mother in General Santos City for the online sexual abuse and exploitation of her minor daughter, NBI director Melvin Matibag announced Wednesday.
The suspect was arrested at her residence on 28 October during a joint operation conducted by the NBI’s Violence Against Women and Children Division and the NBI Sarangani District Office. Operatives executed a Warrant to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data at the premises.
NBI agents rescued the suspect’s minor daughter, who was turned over to the General Santos City Social Welfare and Development Office for care and protective custody.
During the search, agents seized the mother’s mobile phone and discovered Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Materials (CSAEM).
Matibag said the suspect faces criminal charges for violating Republic Act 11930, or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti CSAEM Act.
