Fajardo peaking for Yabuki; Suarez-Lomachenko in Vegas
This is going to be hell week for Miel Fajardo, who is three weeks removed from his much-awaited crack at the International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight title in Japan.
Fajardo has been working out at the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque since the middle of October after spending a full month in Hong Kong doing strength and conditioning work most of the time.
The Filipino challenges Masamichi Yabuki on 26 November at the Ebara Wave Arena in Tokyo.
It will be Yabuki’s third defense of the 112-pound crown and it’s no ordinary defense since Fajardo is the mandatory challenger.
After this week’s grueling grind, Fajardo will start to taper in preparation for their departure for Japan on 20 November where the weather’s going to be quite chilly.
Meanwhile, Hall of Fame promoter bared that the title elimination match between Charly Suarez and Vasyl Lomachenko of Ukraine will take place on 13 February possibly in Las Vegas.
The winner will get a shot at O’Shaquie Foster’s World Boxing Counil, World Boxing Organization and IBF super-featherweight straps.
Arum said Suarez is guaranteed a “fantastic purse” for meeting Lomachenko.
