Gaming platform Roblox has appointed technology entrepreneur Joel Neoh as managing director for Southeast Asia and Oceania to lead its regional expansion and strengthen its growing community of developers and creators.

Neoh, who joined the company in October, will oversee regional business strategy, partnerships and initiatives to help local game developers and studios expand their reach.

He will also work with local teams, parents and regulators to promote online safety as Roblox grows its presence across the region.

“We have an opportunity to help a new generation of creators across Southeast Asia and Oceania turn ideas into experiences, communities and businesses that can reach the world,” Neoh said.

Zhen Fang, Roblox’s vice president of international, said the company plans to continue investing in local talent, creators and partnerships across the two regions.

Neoh brings two decades of experience in technology, e-commerce and financial technology.

He previously led Groupon’s Asia-Pacific operations and founded Southeast Asian payment platform Fave, which was acquired by Pine Labs in 2021 after growing to more than 10 million users.

He also served as managing director at consumer health company Prenetics and has invested in more than 50 Asian startups.
