For many residents facing economic hardship and sudden emergencies in Quezon City’s 5th District, relief often arrives through ongoing community-based initiatives led by local advocate Rose Lin.

Most recently, Lin and her team of volunteers mobilized to Barangay San Agustin following a residential fire, providing emergency relief packages to displaced families. However, local organizers emphasize that emergency response forms only a segment of their broader outreach efforts in Novaliches.

"My volunteers and I don't just act during calamities," Lin said. "Engaging with our communities through various programs has been a regular routine for us for a long time."

Lin’s voluntary socio-civic initiatives span several core areas, including medical missions, educational assistance for underprivileged students, livelihood aid, and local feeding programs.

Operating under the advocacy motto "plant hope and reap change," Lin described the motivation behind her work as rooted in direct public service.

"Having the extraordinary opportunity to help your constituents is a big deal—it truly lightens the heart," Lin said.

Beneficiaries across District 5 say the outreach programs have provided critical assistance during medical and financial crises.

Merlinda Aragon, 70, recalled reaching out to Lin during a family emergency despite having no prior personal relationship with her.

"It was my first time approaching her, and even though I didn't know her well, she helped me," Aragon said. "That is why I told myself that I will support the person who helps us when we are in need."

For Jilson Villas, a community advocate from Barangay North Fairview, the medical assistance proved essential after a sudden heart attack left him unable to work.

"Ate Rose Lin's help was a huge deal, especially for my medical needs and maintenance medicine," Villas said. "It also helped cover daily expenses and school allowances for my children since I can no longer work due to my condition."

Lin's group continues to conduct regular community service caravans across District 5, aiming to deliver both immediate disaster relief and long-term socio-civic support to local neighborhoods.
