CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day across Northern Mindanao was generally peaceful and orderly, the Police Regional Office 10 reported Tuesday.

Brig. Gen. Nestor Babagay, regional director, said monitoring by the Regional Tactical Operations Center recorded an estimated 679,129 cemetery visitors across the region from 30 October to 2 November. Of that total, 300,129 visitors were logged on 2 November alone.

Alongside crowd management and public assistance, security personnel enforced strict inspection protocols at cemetery entry points and major public gathering sites under the “Ligtas Undas 2026” security plan.

Officers confiscated 413 prohibited items, including cooking equipment, lighters, bladed weapons, alcoholic beverages and cigarettes.

Despite the calm overall observance, police reported the arrest of a 39-year-old man at the Old Public Cemetery in Barangay Poblacion, Valencia City, Bukidnon, at about 7:55 a.m. on Monday.

The arrest occurred after the suspect voluntarily opened his belt bag for inspection, causing a plastic sachet containing about three grams of suspected dried marijuana leaves to fall to the ground.
