The local government of Makati City on Monday announced a total ban on all drone operations across the city for the entire month of November as part of heightened security measures for the Philippines’ hosting of the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.

The restriction covers all recreational, commercial and media-related drone activities across all barangays and public spaces in the city.

“The operation of drones and similar unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be strictly prohibited throughout the city for the whole month of November 2026,” the city government said in a public advisory.

“This restriction aims to ensure smooth security and communications during the upcoming ASEAN 2026 events hosted in our city,” it added.

Local officials stressed that the measure is intended to safeguard foreign heads of state, international delegates, and local residents during summit-related activities.

The Philippines will host the 49th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits from 16 to 18 November in Metro Manila.

The local government urged all drone owners, hobbyists, media outlets and residents to strictly comply with the citywide prohibition throughout the month.
