Go the distance: VinFast brings 480-km VF8 to Phl
VinFast will add another electric SUV to its Philippine lineup in November as the all-new VF8 prepares for its local debut with a claimed driving range of up to 480 kilometers.
The figure is based on the NEDC test cycle and comes from a 60.13-kWh battery. That gives the VF8 enough claimed range to cover several days of typical city use or longer provincial drives before another charging stop becomes necessary.
Its Philippine introduction also adds a wider, longer-range choice to VinFast’s growing local range of electric vehicles. The company already sells several EVs in the country, from the small VF 3 to larger models, while the VF8 has also received recognition from the Department of Energy as an electric vehicle for the Philippine market.
VinFast has not yet announced the final Philippine specifications, variants or prices of the VF8. Those details are expected closer to its official launch in November.
What has been confirmed is that the new-generation VF8 will introduce the company’s latest design direction called “Tech Fluid.” Exterior changes give the SUV a more contemporary appearance, while the cabin also receives updates to its technology and passenger features.
The VF8 will also come with a selection of driver-assistance systems. These include adaptive cruise control, lane-assistance functions, collision warning and blind spot warning. A high-definition 360-degree camera system will also be available.
Range is likely to draw much of the attention when the VF8 reaches local showrooms. Charging access continues to be one of the practical considerations for Filipino buyers who are thinking of switching to an EV, particularly those who regularly travel outside Metro Manila and other major cities.
A claimed 480 kilometers gives the VF8 more room between charging stops, although actual distance will depend on traffic, driving speed, road conditions, air-conditioning use and other factors. NEDC figures are also test-cycle ratings rather than guarantees of real-world range.
The VF8 comes at a busy time for VinFast in the Philippines. The Vietnamese automaker has been building its local vehicle lineup while adding dealerships and other customer support channels.
Its new SUV will enter that growing operation as another choice for buyers who want an EV with the space and road presence of a conventional sport utility vehicle.
More details will come when VinFast formally launches the VF8 in November. Pricing will be a key part of the equation, together with the final equipment list and Philippine-market variants.
The 480-kilometer rating gives the VF8 an early point of interest before those numbers are announced. Once the complete local specifications are released, buyers will have a better picture of where the new electric SUV fits within the market and VinFast’s own expanding range.
