Workplace overdrive
A Japanese megabank employee quit his job in 2020 after becoming exhausted from taking his three young children to nursery school every morning.
Yuki Sekihara, 41, of Tokyo’s Setagaya Ward, cycled for 15 minutes with his children and their extra clothes in tow. Nursery schools often require children to change clothes two to four times daily, the Asahi Shimbun reported.
Sekihara and a former colleague launched Nakaral, a nursery school uniform rental service that supplies clean clothes, collects and washes used ones, and returns them the following day.
The business now serves 6,000 users at about 160 public and private nursery schools. Most pay 4,280 yen monthly.
Meanwhile, British civil servant Kashim Chowdhury, 55, allegedly held multiple remote jobs simultaneously between 2020 and 2023.
At a hearing at Southwark Crown Court in London on 21 October 2026, the court heard that Chowdhury worked remotely for several government agencies, including the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Tower Hamlets council, the Food Standards Agency, the Home Office and the Department for Business and Trade.
The Daily Mail reported that he received £11,015.62 in take-home pay from five employers in April 2023 and £8,745.88 in May. Between February 2020 and September 2023, he held eight positions and earned £349,378.
