DoH flags 14 areas amid rise in dengue cases
The Department of Health (DoH) has flagged 14 provinces and highly urbanized cities across 10 regions following an increase in dengue cases, urging the public to continue taking precautions against mosquito bites and breeding sites.
The DoH recorded 22,813 dengue cases from 24 September to 7 Ocober., a 1-percent increase from the 22,580 cases reported from 10 to 23 September.
The latest figure follows an earlier monitoring period in which nine areas were flagged from 17 to 30 September.
The reported case fatality rate (CFR) stood at 0.39 percent.
Despite the recent increase, the cumulative number of dengue cases recorded nationwide this year remained lower than the figure for the same period in 2025.
The DoH reported 217,625 cases so far this year, 19 percent lower than the 269,172 cases recorded during the comparable period last year.
Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitoes. Its spread is associated with mosquito breeding in standing water, including containers and other places where water collects.
Health authorities continue to encourage households and communities to eliminate potential breeding sites, maintain clean surroundings and seek medical attention if symptoms develop.
The public is also advised to remain alert for warning signs and avoid delaying consultation when dengue is suspected.
