The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) issued an urgent public warning Thursday regarding a fraudulent recruitment announcement circulating on social media that attempts to steal personal data from prospective applicants.

The bureau’s Directorate for Intelligence and Investigation detected the deceptive post 24 October on the Facebook page “Nationwide Job Openings PH.”

The advertisement, titled “Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Now Hiring 2026!,” falsely claimed open positions for corrections officers and technical staff, directing users to a link in the comments section.

Cybersecurity platform VirusTotal flagged the provided web link as a malicious phishing URL. When accessed, the address redirected users to an unauthorized site displaying fake salary ranges between P35,783 and P74,879, fabricated application procedures, and misleading contact details designed to mimic official government portals.

BuCor officials warned that interacting with the domain exposes jobseekers to identity theft, financial fraud, credential theft, and unauthorized data collection.

“Citizens are urged not to click the malicious link, submit personal documents, provide account credentials, or make any form of payment through unverified websites,” BuCor director general Gregorio Catapang Jr. said, advising the public to exercise caution.

The agency stressed that all legitimate career opportunities and administrative announcements are published exclusively through verified government channels and official BuCor platforms.
