James Reid, Kathryn Bernardo turn friendship into love song
James Reid and Kathryn Bernardo lend their voices to Someone, Someday with a heartfelt duet about the risks of falling for a friend.
James Reid and Kathryn Bernardo are taking their on-screen chemistry into the recording studio with “Aaminin,” the new official theme song of the hit teleserye Someone, Someday.
The romantic pop ballad explores the complicated emotions of falling for a close friend, capturing the longing and uncertainty that come with confessing feelings that could change a relationship forever.
The song was inspired by Jordan’s perspective in the series as he grapples with his growing feelings for Billy, portrayed by Kathryn. James revealed that the idea came after a discussion with director Chad Vidanes, prompting him to write an original track that reflected the character’s emotional journey.
“I thought writing a song from Jordan’s perspective could be interesting,” James said. “I teamed up with Jason Marvin to make this song, and we had finished it in hopes that we could get Kathryn to sing on the track, and I’m very grateful that she did.”
He added that writing the song came naturally after spending nearly a year immersed in their characters.
“The process didn’t require much thought because we have been close to these characters for almost a year. It’s a simple yet beautiful song, and our vocals blended really well,” he said.
Written by James Reid and Jason Marvin, who also produced the track, “Aaminin” draws from the series’ script, character breakdowns and personal emotions. Its stripped-down arrangement allows the lyrics and the duo’s vocals to highlight the vulnerability of finally admitting hidden feelings.
For James, honesty became the song’s driving force.
“Aaminin is a song about hope and trusting your feelings, wherever they may lead,” he said.
“Aaminin” is now available on digital streaming platforms worldwide under Sony Music Entertainment.
