The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has directed all police units in Metro Manila to partner with local social welfare offices and crack down on individuals soliciting fake donations under the guise of helping children in government protection.

NCRPO officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano instructed regional police forces to intensify intelligence monitoring, verify reported solicitation activities, track down suspects, and file criminal charges where evidence permits.

The directive follows an alert issued by the Taguig City Social Welfare and Development Office, which clarified that it has not sanctioned or authorized any private individual to collect money, transit fares, or financial aid for children currently under protective custody.

Police authorities urged the public to verify donation requests directly with local social welfare departments before handing over money or aid to individuals claiming to represent government-managed childcare programs.

Abrahano appealed to residents to immediately report fraudulent or suspicious fundraising schemes to local law enforcement.

“Your vigilance can help protect vulnerable children and prevent others from being victimized by fraudulent appeals for assistance,” Abrahano said.
