A father and his 11-month-old infant were killed early Tuesday when an Isuzu dump truck lost control and overturned onto their motorcycle along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City.

The collision occurred around 12:30 a.m. near the corner of Luzon Avenue in Barangay Culiat, according to an initial report from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

Investigators said both vehicles were traveling along Congressional Avenue toward Luzon Avenue when the 29-year-old truck driver, identified by police under the alias “Randel,” lost control of the heavy vehicle.

“The truck tipped over onto its left side and crushed the motorcycle beside it,” the police report noted.

First responders rushed the 42-year-old motorcycle driver, his live-in partner and their infant child to East Avenue Medical Center.

Attending physicians declared the rider and the infant dead on arrival. The mother survived the crash and remains under treatment for her injuries.

Police officers took the truck driver into custody following the incident while investigators assess the crash site.

QCPD officials indicated that charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide, physical injuries and damage to property are being prepared against the driver pending the final result of the investigation.
