Content creator network pivots to regional assemblies

Content creator network Blogapalooza has revamped its community engagement model, transitioning from its signature large-scale annual convention to regional, multi-day gatherings designed to foster hyperlocalized influencer marketing and community development.

For years, the organization anchored its operations around "BlogaFest," a single-day mega-event in Metro Manila that drew thousands of digital creators, influencers, and brand representatives into a single venue.

However, shifting industry dynamics and a growing emphasis on targeted regional marketing prompted the organization to pivot toward "Bloga SZNs," a series of localized, three-day experiential gatherings held across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Blogapalooza CEO Ace Gapuz cited that while massive conventions succeeded in gathering large crowds, the format restricted meaningful, individual engagement among creators, brands and local stakeholders.

"Over the years we've seen how the industry has been evolving and how influence is now more effective when it's hyperlocalized," Gapuz said. "When we would do massive events before, it was very difficult to engage creators individually."

Under the regional framework, smaller cohorts of creators participate in localized itineraries—such as a recent leg in Bohol—allowing participants to produce content centered on regional tourism, local heritage, and community stories.

The strategy also integrates public-private partnerships with local government units and regional businesses, providing municipalities with direct access to digital content creators to promote local tourism and economic initiatives.

Following initial operational adjustments during its inaugural rollout in 2024, the program expanded its footprint in its second year through increased logistical support from regional tourism boards and private sponsors.

Gapuz stressed that the company's long-term strategy focuses on creating sustained economic and professional development opportunities for regional creators rather than relying on vanity metrics like event attendance.

"Impact goes beyond the number of creators in attendance or the amount of content produced during an event," Gapuz said. "When you see this ecosystem that we built along the way, I feel a strong responsibility to make sure we make a difference in the lives of the people who are part of it."
