The actress is reportedly reprising her iconic role as Rachel Berry as Disney+ and Hulu move forward with a new chapter of the musical comedy.
Lea Michele is reportedly returning to Glee, reprising her breakout role as Rachel Berry in the upcoming reboot of the hit musical comedy series.
According to an exclusive report by Variety, multiple sources confirmed that Michele has signed on to the project, just hours after Disney+ and Hulu officially announced that a Glee reboot is in development.
One source told the publication that discussions are still in the early stages but expressed optimism about the project, saying, “It’s still early-ish days, but it feels good and we’re happy to get the band back together.”
Michele starred as ambitious singer Rachel Berry throughout the original series’ six-season run from 2009 to 2015. Her performance earned her Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and helped establish her as one of television’s most recognizable musical stars.
Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, Glee became a global phenomenon during its run, blending high school drama with musical performances while launching the careers of several cast members, including Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Amber Riley and the late Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera.
Disney+ and Hulu have yet to reveal plot details, additional cast members or a release date for the reboot. It also remains unclear how closely the new series will connect to the original show or which former cast members may return.
The reported return of Michele is expected to fuel excitement among longtime fans as the franchise prepares for its first new chapter in more than a decade.
