Lanao Norte highway shooting claims 2, wounds 3

LANAO DEL NORTE — Police authorities here maintained pursuit and containment operations on Monday following a fatal highway shooting that left two people dead and three others wounded.

The Sapad Municipal Police Station activated its Containment Ring Plan across key municipal entry and exit points to intercept the unidentified gunmen who fled in an unidentified vehicle after the attack last Thursday.

The shooting occurred along the National Highway in Barangay Lower Sapad. Responding police officers secured the crime scene and coordinated emergency medical transport after receiving reports from local residents.

Two male victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Three other victims — two women and one man — sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to the Kapatagan Provincial Hospital for emergency treatment.

Authorities have withheld the identities of the victims pending notification of their families.

The Sapad Municipal Police Station condemned the violence and assured the public that operations remain active to establish a motive, identify the perpetrators and bring them into custody.
