Jenna Ortega eyes film career after ‘Wednesday’
After years of leading one of Netflix’s biggest hits, Jenna Ortega says she plans to step away from television once Wednesday wraps up.
Jenna Ortega is preparing to leave television behind — at least for a while — once her time as Wednesday Addams comes to an end.
The 24-year-old actress revealed that she plans to take a break from TV after Netflix’s hit supernatural series Wednesday, saying she wants to focus on films and see where her career takes her next.
Speaking on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ortega reflected on spending much of her career working in television.
“What I’m meant to do will come and find me,” she said. “I think after Wednesday, I’ll probably be off the TV for a while.”
Ortega first gained recognition through television projects before becoming a Hollywood star with films such as Scream, Scream VI, X, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Death of a Unicorn. However, it was her portrayal of the deadpan Wednesday Addams that turned her into a global phenomenon.
The actress currently stars in Netflix’s Wednesday, which remains one of the streaming platform’s most successful original series. She also serves as a producer on the show, taking on a bigger creative role beginning with its second season.
Although Ortega did not elaborate on her future projects, her comments suggest she is looking to shift her focus to feature films after Wednesday concludes.
As one of Hollywood’s most sought-after young stars, Ortega’s next move is expected to draw significant attention, especially as fans await the future of Wednesday.
