Dimayuga wins first pro crown
Enrique Dimayuga captured his first professional title on Wednesday, winning the APGA Tour’s Billy Horschel Invitational presented by Cisco at Evermore Resort’s Grand Cypress Course in Orlando, Florida.
Dimayuga, an APGA Tour rookie who got into the exclusive 21-player field only as the first alternate, fired rounds of 68 and 67 for a 9-under-par 135 total, winning wire-to-wire by three strokes.
The 24-year-old, born in England to Filipino parents and raised in London, was a last-minute replacement after Joey Stills withdrew to play in the first stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School. Dimayuga said he booked a flight immediately after receiving the call.
“I was over the moon,” Dimayuga said. “I really didn’t have anything planned for this week. I said, ‘I’m going to book my flight straight away and get on over here.’”
The victory earned Dimayuga a $30,000 check from the $100,000 purse, along with 700 points in the APGA’s Jeff Dailey Player of the Year standings.
Dimayuga turned professional in 2025 after a college career that included stops at Florida Atlantic, Arkansas, Nevada and Southern Methodist University. He was a standout at Nevada, where he won three consecutive individual titles in 2024.
Before turning pro, Dimayuga represented the Philippines at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, where he competed in the men’s individual and team golf events. He has also been a regular member of the Philippine national team, winning the Putra Cup individual title and representing the country in the Bonallack Trophy.
His breakthrough comes less than a year and a half after turning pro, and it sets up an intriguing homecoming: Dimayuga is scheduled to compete in the Philippine Open next month, giving Filipino fans a chance to see the country’s newest professional champion in person.
For a player who wasn’t even sure he’d be teeing it up this week, Dimayuga made the most of his opportunity — and walked away with his first trophy as a professional.
