The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) honored the BDO Foundation for its joint financial education program, which reached more than 73,000 military personnel through partnerships with the military and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr., then-AFP chief of staff, presented the Golden Flame of Partnership Award to the foundation during an official stakeholders recognition ceremony at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

“This is the first time that we are giving this kind of award,” Brawner said during the event, which also marked his final flag-raising ceremony and coincided with the 10th anniversary of the arbitral ruling on the West Philippine Sea.

The award recognizes the sustained collaboration among BDO Foundation, the AFP, and the BSP to improve financial management skills for members of the Philippine Air Force, Philippine Army and Philippine Navy.

Launched in 2019, the program integrates financial literacy instruction into standard training curricula across all military service branches and the Philippine Military Academy.

The core coursework covers saving, budgeting, debt management, investment strategies, fraud prevention, entrepreneurship and retirement planning.

As part of the initiative, the partner organizations produced a specialized trainer’s manual, conducted instructor training workshops, and published six military-focused instructional videos on BDO’s public YouTube channel.
