Some communities in Greater Noida, in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, are vigilant against people dumping garbage in their neighborhoods.

At Sector Beta 1, a CCTV camera monitors trash dumping at night. Around 10:15 p.m. on 9 October, the camera caught a man carrying a child arriving and throwing a bag of garbage beside a wall, NDTV reported, citing an account from the homeowners association.

The litterbug was then startled by a voice coming from a public address system, telling him to pick up his garbage.

The footage then showed the man looking around to find where the voice was coming from. He then heard the instruction again, along with a warning that he would be fined the following morning if he failed to take back his waste, according to NDTV.

The man eventually picked up his garbage and left with it.

Meanwhile, a TikTok and Instagram content creator named Kate posted a video in August about an initiative in her town that recognizes residents who place only recyclable materials in their recycling bins.

In her post, Kate said that despite her efforts to comply, her trash bin did not get gold star stickers bearing the words “You’re a recycling star,” Y! Entertainment reported.

Instead of “You’re a recycling star,” her bin was labeled “No trash,” and she blamed her neighbors for it.

“While I’m really good at recycling and I will only put recyclable material in my recycling bin, I will never get to be a recycling star,” the frustrated Kate said in her video, according to Y! Entertainment.

“Because no matter what I do, no matter how hard I try to prevent it […] my neighbors […] will fill it with greasy pizza boxes and used needles.”

The post, which was unrelated to her veganism topic, went viral, garnering nearly two million views on Instagram and another 1.3 million views on TikTok in a little over a month, the report said. Commenters tried to comfort Kate by saying she was a recycling star.

Kate later posted another video regretting her earlier complaint that went viral, saying the amount of attention she received made her unhappy.
