8 DivinaLaw lawyers make A-list
Eight DivinaLaw lawyers have been named to Asia Business Law Journal’s 2026 A-List of the Philippines’ top lawyers, marking the firm’s ninth consecutive year in the prestigious ranking.
Leading this year’s honorees is DivinaLaw founder and managing partner Nilo Divina, who was also named a Legal Icon for the third consecutive year.
Joining him are senior partners Edwin Uy, Alden Francis Gonzales, Alfonso Verzosa, Dara Acusar, Danny Bunyi, Cybill Uytiepo and Jose “Jay” Layug Jr.
Released on 19 October, the annual A-List recognizes 100 leading lawyers and 49 Legal Icons across the Philippines, highlighting legal professionals for their expertise, professional achievements, and contributions to the industry.
According to the Asia Business Law Journal, the selections were based on an extensive nomination process involving thousands of in-house counsel in the Philippines and abroad, along with partners from international law firms.
The publication evaluates nominees based on their legal expertise, ability to handle complex cases and advance innovative legal solutions, and their commitment to professional excellence.
The Legal Icon distinction, meanwhile, recognizes established figures who have demonstrated leadership and earned the respect of clients and fellow legal practitioners.
The eight DivinaLaw honorees represent various practice areas, including corporate and commercial law, litigation, banking and finance, energy, taxation, infrastructure and project finance.
The latest recognition comes as DivinaLaw celebrates its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of growth since its establishment in 2006.
The firm received the Philippine Law Firm of the Year award at the 2026 Asian Legal Business Philippine Law Awards held on 24 September at the Makati Shangri-La.
DivinaLaw also received two other distinctions during the ceremony: Energy and Resources Law Firm of the Year and Immigration Law Firm of the Year.
