The provincial government is preparing for the incoming Super El Niño by conducting a meeting with concerned stakeholders and other government agencies to ensure water security and water supply for Pampanga next year.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon, Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) Administrator Atty. Jose Moises Salonga, DPWH Region 3 Director Arnold Ocampo, and PG-ENRO Engr. Arthur Punsalan led the meeting.

The group also met with officials of the 12 water districts in Pampanga, DENR Region 3, DENR-PENRO Pampanga, DENR-MGB, and the Manila Water Philippine Ventures Inc., as well as the Clark Water Corporation.

The meeting aims to strengthen the coordination between the agencies and water utilities in preparing for the expected water shortage, as well as discussion on ensuring the continuous supply of water for the residents of Pampanga.

Pampanga and the rest of Central Luzon are bracing for a historic, very strong Super El Niño active in the tropical Pacific, which is projected to peak between late 2026 and early 2027 and persist through the first half of 2027.
