MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL — The provincial government of Misamis Occidental placed staff members of the Asenso Misamis Occidental Medical Center under preventive suspension following a public social media complaint regarding the alleged mistreatment of a patient and their companions.

Under a directive from Governor Henry S. Oaminal, the provincial government issued show-cause orders to the involved personnel, giving them 24 hours to submit a written explanation.

The staff members were also placed under a 30-day preventive suspension without pay, effective immediately, while the formal investigation proceeds.

The administrative action follows a formal inquiry initiated by a provincial investigating committee after allegations of poor treatment at the medical facility gained widespread attention online.

Oaminal stressed that hospital quality relies on standards of care and employee conduct rather than infrastructure alone.

“Every patient deserves to be treated with kindness, dignity and respect, regardless of financial status or personal circumstances,” Oaminal said.

“All healthcare personnel are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, empathy and accountability in the performance of their duties,” he added.
