BPI, DMCI Homes ease U.S. buyer payments
The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has partnered with DMCI Homes to simplify payment collections from US-based property buyers through a digital service that allows them to pay using their US bank accounts.
Under the Overseas Collection Arrangement (OCA), DMCI Homes customers who have signed a contract and agreed on an amortization schedule receive a payment link from the property developer. They can then enroll their US bank accounts by following the instructions provided, allowing payments to be automatically debited and settled to DMCI Homes.
BPI said the arrangement makes payments more convenient for overseas customers while helping the developer accelerate collections, consolidate payments and streamline reconciliation.
DMCI Homes is the first property developer to use BPI’s OCA solution for collections from US-based customers.
“We at BPI are more than happy to partner with DMCI Homes to provide the OCA as a solution for the company to be able to streamline collections, particularly for its US-based customers. In the process, the service would also make payments easier for DMCI Homes property owners,” said Edgardo Marcelo Jr., BPI transaction banking head.
“With the OCA in place, we look forward to DMCI Homes increasing operational efficiency, which would enable it to devote more of its time and resources on developing homes for Filipinos across the country,” he added.
The service also provides collection and settlement reports that allow DMCI Homes to track payments and match them against expected receivables, helping ensure buyers’ payments are properly accounted for and settled on time.
DMCI Homes president and chief executive officer Alfredo Austria said the arrangement would improve the company’s ability to manage collections from its US-based customers.
“The OCA provides us with a more seamless way to manage payments from our US-based customers, while giving us greater visibility over our collections. This helps simplify our collection and reconciliation processes and allows us to better serve our property owners,” Austria said.
