Cryptocurrency platform Binance has urged Filipino investors to watch out for fraudulent trading websites, phishing schemes and investment offers promising unrealistic returns as digital asset adoption continues to expand.

The company warned that scammers increasingly target inexperienced investors through fake cryptocurrency platforms that display fabricated earnings to encourage larger deposits.

In some cases, victims are persuaded to invest after receiving small initial payouts, only to discover that their accounts have been frozen when they attempt to withdraw their funds.

Fraudsters then demand additional payments, sometimes disguised as account reactivation fees ranging from P5,000 to P10,000, before disappearing with the money.

Binance said users should be particularly cautious of suspicious links, impersonated customer service accounts and unsolicited investment offers circulating through messaging platforms.

“Education is the first line of defense in Web3. Free resources like Binance Academy exist so that every user, from the first-timer to the veteran, can spot red flags before any funds are at risk,” said Jen Bilango, Binance general manager for the Philippines.
