DA turns over P46.5M to Novo Ecijano farmers under Enhanced Kadiwa
The Department of Agriculture (DA) Central Luzon turned over P46.5-million worth of financial assistance to Novo Ecijano farmers at the Provincial Auditorium, Old Capitol Building, Burgos Avenue in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija on 15 October 2026.
The said financial assistance are given to the beneficiaries of the Enhanced Kadiwa Financial Grant Assistance Program that provides financial assistance to qualified organizations in the agricultural and fishing sector. These grants are used to boost their capacity to supply, process, store, and market agricultural products.
Around 20 local government units, and 27 FCAs from the province of Nueva Ecija will receive financial assistance from the said program.
The program aims to create direct market linkage by connecting food producers (farmers and fisherfolk) directly to consumers to lower retail prices and cut out unnecessary middlemen.
The program also aims to boost the supply chain capacity by strengthening the ability of agricultural groups to aggregate, process, package, transport, and distribute basic food commodities.
Farmers in Nueva Ecija, recognized as the "Rice Granary of the Philippines," are the backbone of the country's food security. The province ranks as the second-largest contributor to the national agriculture, forestry, and fishing (AFF) sector. However, local agricultural communities face significant challenges, ranging from economic vulnerability and land displacement to modernized state interventions and crop diversification.
