Terrafirma has something to build on as it looks forward to a better showing in the next season of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Maverick Ahanmisi showed vintage form in leading the Dyip to a 149-117 rout of Titan Ultra to end their Season 50 Governors’ Cup campaign on a positive note on Saturday at the Ynares Center-Antipolo.

The veteran guard registered a triple-double of 18 points on 6-of-7 field goal shooting, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds in over 28 minutes of play as Terrafirma closed the tournament with a 5-7 win-loss record in Group A.

“I think we proved a lot that we’re not just a team to be pushed over. I think we have built a lot of team chemistry together. Hopefully, that continues and for the next, I just hope we bring the same mentality that we can try to win every game,” Ahanmisi said.

The Dyip were in full control of the match, never trailed and even built a 32-point lead.

Terrafirma outran the Giant Risers for a 59-18 advantage in fastbreak points while the Dyip’s bench outworked its counterpart, 69-44, in bench points.

“Before the game, we told the boys that we have to end this conference on a high note. That at least we’ll have something to build on for the next conference,” Dyip head coach Ronald Tubid as his squad rebounded in style after a 30-point drubbing at the hands of San Miguel Beer last Wednesday.

“Next season probably we’ll start early to build our chemistry,” he added.

Juami Tiongson hit six three-pointers on his way to scoring 30 points to pace Terrafirma.

Import Justing Strings had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds while Joseph Eriobu had 12 for the Dyip.

Titan Ultra absorbed a fifth straight defeat to end up tied with guest team Macau at the bottom of the standings with identical 2-10 slates.

Von Pessumal scored 26 points and reinforcement Tirrell Brown had 24 points and 10 boards for the Giant Risers.

Fran Yu, Aris Dionisio and King Caralipio finished with 11 points each for Titan Ultra.
