Ombudsman, BoC signing data-sharing agreement
The Office of the Ombudsman and the Bureau of Customs (BoC) will sign a data-sharing agreement in November to improve the exchange of information between the agencies, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said Saturday.
“This November, we will be signing a memorandum of agreement with Customs for data sharing,” Remulla said during a radio show.
“That will be the first time that will happen with Customs,” he added.
The Ombudsman recently flagged the lack of data sharing by the BoC as a hindrance to efforts to pursue smuggling cases and strengthen the government’s anti-smuggling campaign.
The anti-graft agency has also signed a data-sharing agreement with the Department of Budget and Management to improve information exchange among government agencies.
