Solon calls for tangible community action supporting education, women's rights
Laguna 1st District Representative Ann Matibag expressed full support for Zonta District 17's campaign to promote the rights of women and girls, urging advocates to translate gender equality initiatives into concrete community services.
Matibag stressed that efforts to expand access to education, economic opportunities, and protection from violence must deliver measurable results.
"Its impact must be reflected in a girl’s ability to continue her education, a woman’s opportunity to earn a livelihood, and a community’s capacity to recover with dignity," Matibag said.
"Every girl deserves the chance to learn, the freedom to dream, and the support to build her future," she added.
The news conference highlighted the upcoming International Day of the Girl Child, alongside leadership development programs for the organization's officers and volunteer network. Matibag served as one of the moderators during the event.
Zonta District 17 officers present at the conference included Past International president Olivia Ferry, district governor Runcha Boribalburibhand, area directors Azucena Yao, Angelita Ang, Marie Cecilia Pua Phee, and Eleanor Soriano, Leaders Institute chair Sonia Tiong-Aquino, and Z and Golden Z Club Committee chair Lourdes Almeda Sese.
Matibag commended the group for encouraging young professionals, community partners, and volunteers to actively contribute to sustainable programs for women and youth.
