The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is pushing for stronger coordination with local government units and traffic authorities to identify and address road obstructions that could delay police response, ambulance transport, and fire-rescue operations in congested areas across Metro Manila.

NCRPO chief Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano directed the five police districts to coordinate with city and municipal officials, traffic management offices, emergency responders, and concerned establishments in reviewing access routes around hospitals, transport terminals, commercial centers, and other high-traffic locations.

The review will focus on identifying frequently obstructed roads, assessing emergency vehicle access, and recommending practical measures to improve response times during accidents, medical emergencies, fires, and other critical incidents.

“Every minute matters during an emergency. A blocked road can delay an ambulance carrying a patient, prevent firefighters from reaching a burning structure, or hinder police officers responding to a crime. We must work with our local government and traffic partners to keep critical access routes passable and ensure that emergency responders can reach people who need help,” Abrahano said.

The NCRPO will work with li and relevant agencies to identify recurring bottlenecks, clarify responsibilities for addressing illegal parking and other road obstructions, and establish appropriate coordination and reporting procedures. Police units will support lawful traffic enforcement within their authority and assist in managing congestion during emergencies, major incidents, and other situations requiring immediate public-safety intervention.

Abrahano emphasized that the initiative requires sustained cooperation among government agencies, private establishments, transport operators, and motorists. He urged the public to avoid blocking emergency access points, driveways, and designated routes, and to follow lawful instructions from authorized traffic personnel.
