‘Rowdy’ police officer axed
The National Police Commission (Napolcom) announced Wednesday that it unanimously voted to dismiss a police officer from service after an administrative investigation found him guilty of physically assaulting a 76-year-old man during a road rage incident in Taguig.
The commission’s en banc panel ordered the immediate discharge of Police Corp. Simeon Dimaala Suan, finding him guilty of two counts of grave misconduct, two counts of less grave misconduct, oppression, and conduct unbecoming of an officer.
“Good riddance. We need to cleanse the PNP of abusive cops. We will not miss him,” Napolcom commissioner Rafael Calinisan said in a statement announcing the decision.
Administrative penalties imposed on Suan include the forfeiture of retirement benefits and perpetual disqualification from holding public office.
Because Suan is an applicant for admission to the Philippine Bar, the oversight agency directed that a copy of the dismissal ruling be transmitted to the Supreme Court’s Office of the Bar Confidant.
The commission said the dismissal stems from a traffic altercation in which Suan assaulted and inflicted physical injuries on the elderly driver.
